This is social mediaThere are many books on the market for writers who want to learn more about social media and how to build an online platform. Last year I reviewed a few different books that offered focused advice and guidance on different aspects of social media. However, This is Social Media by Guy Clapperton is a book for all you writers who simply want to know a bit more about social media.

It sets out to explore the world of social media from a layman’s point of view and the bulk of the book looks at different sites, how to set up an account and how to use them and get the most out of the experience in the process. I could waffle on, but when you consider Clapperton covers fourteen different services, including smaller sites as well as the big boys like twitter, you will get the point.

So if you are looking to get into social media in 2010, This is Social Media is a great starting point.

To win a copy of This is Social Media just leave a pick me comment.

Or you can buy This is Social Media from here.

And the winner is…Anna Marie.

Hemmie Martin January 6, 2010 at 11:35 am

please pick me up with care as i may shatter if dropped, only because i have no idea how to set up a blog. i have considered it but then i worry about what to write, will anyone be interested, what’s the best blog site and how would i cope with unkind comments?
I want to be taken seriously in the writing world, so i should venture into this unknown, only not alone.
Have a peaceful day.
Hemmie

Cos I am asking nicely
And I’m on my knees
Truth is my blogging is much better
than the poetry
in this begging letter
Whilst socially I’m kinda able
My business needs to get past my kitchen table
I need info about blogging and Twitter
To Facebook and Ning I must flitter
…….
bugger it, run out of rhyme. But if you picked me, that would be good.

Pick me, pick me, seriously I started a business in 2007 and I don’t believe I would have been half as successful without the advent of social media, I was just getting over agoraphobia and social media helped me make the connections I needed without direct face to face contact. 3 years on and business is good and I’ve met so many people both online and face to face!

Alison January 6, 2010 at 7:11 pm
