The writer whose book has been professionally prepared prior to submission, stands a far better chance of grabbing that elusive book deal, than one whose book is unprepared.

BubbleCow’s editing service has been designed to provide a ‘publisher’ style edit, which leaves the manuscript as close to print ready as possible.

When a book is prepared for publication by a publishing house, it will be passed through a four step editing process prior to printing.

This process includes:

• 1. Structural editing,
• 2. Stylistic editing,
• 3. Copy editing,
• 4. Proofreading,

Our service combines the first three types of edit (Structural, Stylistic and Copy) to provide the writer with a ‘publisher’ standard edit.

The aim is to give the manuscript a professional edit, whilst also providing the writer with all that is needed to lift their book to the next level and prepare it for submission.

What Does The Edit Include?

We have built our editing process around the professionally recognised editing standards and processes used by all major publishing companies worldwide (example here).

The edit involves one of our professional and experienced editors reading through your work, line by line, and asking themselves the following broad questions:

• Is the book’s organisation and content suitable for the intended audience, medium, market, and purpose? [Structural]
• How can the book’s meaning be clarified, the flow improved and the language smoothed?[Stylistic]
• Have you ensured the correctness, consistency, accuracy, and completeness of the document? [Copy]

What Do You Get?

Your final report will be made up of two parts.

The first is a Reader’s Report. This includes our editor’s thoughts on your manuscript, ideas about improving your work and any general structural points you should consider. This feedback also includes any points that we feel need particular attention. It is the similar to a reader’s report you would receive from any of our competitors.

The second part is the in-depth line edit. This is embedded in your original document and can be viewed by opening the document with any good word processing package. Our comments will appear on the right hand side of the text. The editor will have read through your work and on a line-by-line basis, added comments and pointers to improve your text. Though this is not a proofread, any grammar or spelling mistakes we spot will be highlighted. The report is designed to allow you to systematically work through your text and produce a new and better re-write.

It is our belief that the report is as much a teaching aid as it is an assessment of your book. We design our feedback to highlight areas in which you can strengthen your writing. We also structure our comments in such a way that you will be shown how to apply the techniques we are suggesting to improve your book.

Cost

BubbleCow is an Internet based company and our low overheads mean that we can pass on the benefits to our writers.

We charge just £5 per 1000 words in the UK and $8 per 1000 words in the US.

At BubbleCow we understand that each writer’s needs are different, our a minimum word count of just 1000 words means that we can build long term relationships. As a writer you can use our editorial services as and when you please. Send a full book or just a chapter for quick feedback – it’s your choice.

Payment

Once we know the word count of your manuscript we can calculate payment. We will then send you an invoice to the email you provide when you complete the form below. This will contain a link to our secure PayPal page. If you already have a PayPal account then great. If you don’t there is no need to worry. You can pay using any major credit card simply by completing the form on the PayPal page. It is all very simple. If you have problems using PayPal we can arrange an alternative method of payment, just let us know and we will come to some arrangement.

How It Works

• 4. Our editor aims to complete your edit within ten working days of payment,
• 5. You receive an email with the Reader’s Report and line-by-line edit,

• 7. You re-write and are then ready to submit to agents and publishers.

FAQ

Privacy: All members of BubbleCow are also published writers. We understand the confidential and delicate nature of a writer’s work. Under no circumstances would we share the content or nature of writers work with anyone outside BubbleCow.

Genre: We have access to editors specialising in all major genres. These include most fiction and non-fiction genres.

Self-publishing: Our edit is perfect for writers looking to be self-published. In fact, we are one of Matadors recommended editing companies.
